All lifeguards must complete two certification courses in order to be considered for employment. These certifications last for two years each.
CPR/AED for Lifeguards courses are taught by American Red Cross certified instructors. Participants learn to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies for adults, children, and infants and to properly use an AED on a victim of cardiac arrest. Successful completion of course results in ARC CPR/AED for Lifeguards certification. All participants must be 15 years of age by the end of the course. Certification is valid for two years.
Lifeguard certification courses are taught by American Red Cross certified instructors. Participants learn to respond to water and land emergencies, to provide first aid care, and the responsibilities of a professional lifeguard. Successful completion of course results in ARC lifeguard and first aid certifications. All participants must be 15 years of age prior to the completion of the course. Certification is valid for two years.
